Swim , snorkel , dive into the blue sea

So how are the beaches , how far do I need to go for a good snorkelling ?
You have your own beach just at the bottom of the garden of Cave Canem , with an amazingly rich reef , populated by a huge variety of fish , dolphins , rays , and if you are lucky even manatees and water turtles.
Welcome to snorkelling paradise : all underwater pictures above were taken just in front of the house.
If the sea is a bit rough , not unusual on the South Coast , the reef protects you from the big waves and you can still snorkel inside and bath in the reef inclosed waters .
Try to explore the area further , there are a large variety of little sandy coves, long dark sand beaches, all the way to the huge Fort Charles Beach that is stretching for miles and ideal for long walks and snorkelling too.
Some beaches are good for body surfing other just for swimming and snorkelling other ideal for a picnic or a bonfire at night.
The very big beaches - where you can play soccer on it, take big waves, good for walks & jogging, but not much shade are Great Bay beach, Fort Charles Beach & Calabash Beach.
You have some large choices of Sandy coves - not for swimming in the open sea, good for kids, water volleyball reef protected during rough sea.
The ' Treasure ' are the many intimate & secret beaches, a bit difficult to find , as just hidden behind a drop on the road going from Billy's Bay towards Fort Charles, cosy, with nice shade, good for swimming, with open reef.
It will take you some exploring and 'reasoning' with the locals but you will find your personal 'treasure beach'.
We also highly recommend you to take a boat trip with a local fisherman , drop for a beer at the pelican bar and continue to Black River for a crocodile spotting trip on the long river...
